What we do and don’t collect

Seven of the eighteen fields below verify your licence. Five more are counts and yes/no answers describing how far through setup you are, so our setup emails stop once you are set up. The last six are sent once, only if you switch the plugin off, so we can tell a hobby store leaving from a busy one. Every count stops at 10,000 and the payload says so when it does.

The plugin sends no page URLs, nothing about your customers, and no contents of any kind — not a product name, not a supplier, not a figure from a report. It sends no personally identifiable information about your customers or your visitors. Your inventory data stays on your site, and the eighteen fields below are the complete payload.

What the plugin sends

Field names are the exact wire keys.

license_key

Your license key. Identifies which license is checking in.

site_token

A random ID generated once per install. Lets us count activations without ever storing your site URL.

root_domain

Your registrable domain only — no path, no query string. Enforces one license per site.

plugin_version

The plugin version running on your site. Support and compatibility.

wp_major

Your WordPress major version only (e.g. 6). Compatibility checks.

php_major

Your PHP major version only (e.g. 8). Compatibility checks.

timestamp

The signed time of the request. Replay protection on the signed request.

products_costed

A number — how many of your products have a cost price. How many of your products have a cost price, so setup help stops once you are set up.

products_tracked

A number — how many products WooCommerce is tracking stock for. How many products WooCommerce is tracking stock for, so we can say "N of M" honestly.

has_purchase_order

Yes or no. Never the supplier, the items, or the value. Whether you have created a purchase order yet. Yes or no, never the contents.

has_report_run

Yes or no. Never the report, the dates, or the figures. Whether you have run a report yet. Yes or no, never the figures.

admin_last_seen_at

A date — the last time an Inventory Alpha screen was opened. The last time an Inventory Alpha screen was opened, so we stop emailing people who are getting on fine.

variations_managed

A number — how many variations WooCommerce is tracking stock for. How many product variations WooCommerce is tracking stock for, so we can tell a large catalogue from a small one.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.

orders_last_30d

A number — how many orders in the last 30 days. Never what was in them. How many orders your store took in the last 30 days, so we know whether the plugin was under real load.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.

suppliers

A number — how many suppliers you have set up. How many suppliers you have set up. A count, never a name.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.

purchase_orders

A number — how many purchase orders you have raised. How many purchase orders you have raised. A count, never the contents.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.

onboarding_complete

Yes or no. Whether setup was finished. Whether you finished setting the plugin up before switching it off.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.

days_installed

A number — how many days the plugin had been installed. How long the plugin had been installed, so a first-day exit is not read as a long-term one.Sent when you deactivate the plugin, not on the daily check-in.
